Concert News

Welcome to the Concert Tickets for Sale Online Concert Blog. We are here to offer the latest news, views, and videos from the concert industry. This year is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the concert industry. One can say that the concert business is on the brink. shinedown tourWith the economy faltering and unemployment high, many music fans simply cannot afford what it costs to go see a music concert. The average ticket price for 2010 is $60. If you factor in the tickets costs, service fees, tax, parking, food and drink, you are looking at a couple hundred bucks for 2 people.

The expensive ticket prices coupled with the economic fragility have taken its toll on some concert tours. The Lilith tour was the latest casualty with many venues canceled. This comes on the heels of Kelly Clarkston dropping out of the tour. The American Idols tour is struggling to sell seats without a major draw and the Eagles have also canceled some dates. Adding to the woes of Ticketmaster/Live Nation was the cancellation of the huge U2 360 tour due to lead singer Bono’s back injury.

Playing into and exacerbating the situation, are the dwindling music sales of recorded music. To compensate, musicians are touring more than ever and charging high ticket prices. In the past, it was customary for artists to go on tour to promote a new album. Today, you will see more and more artists hitting the road every year and this further dilutes the numbers of people willing to see a band more every year. The Concert Blog has learned that the estimated the number of seats unsold approaching 40% for 2010.

Some venues like the Palace of Auburn Hills offered a 2 day ticket blitz offering some tickets at a 50% discount. If you’re looking for deals or the best seats, then it may be prudent to wait instead of the old traditional method of being first in line to get the best seats. That process is old school and may not work anymore. One reason is the venues will hold back the best seats and hold them for season ticket holders. After a certain time has elapsed, these seats are released back into the pool of available seats.
