The Dave Matthews Band is once again launching a summer concert tour which will visit 42 cities
during the summer of 2010.
The tour begins June 8th in Mansfield, MA and ends on September 15th in
Saint Paul, MN. For the majority of shows, the venues will be
outdoor amphitheaters and pavilions. The final two shows will
be held in arenas at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE and the Xcel
Energy Center in Saint Paul, MN.
The Dave Matthews tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster/LiveNation and generally only have 2 price ranges. Depending on the
city where the concert is held, the prices may vary but average around $75 for the top tier price and $35-$40 for the lawn seats.
A new tactic from Ticketmaster and Live Nation is the elimination of the ominous service fees which can add an additional $10-15 per ticket.
This promotional offer is only valid at participating amphitheaters or outdoor venues.
The Dave Matthews Band was formed in 1991 in Virginia by Dave Matthews. The reserved Matthews was convinced to put some of his work on a tape demo.
With the help of some local jazz musicians from his hometown of Charlottsville, VA, the band was formed and they played at the Earth Day Festival in
Charlottesville on April 11th, 1991.
In 1993, the band released its first album named "Remember Two Things". It was published
with the help of an independent label and attracted a
devout following from the college student community. Their fans are very loyal and DMB gives back to them allowing the concert goers to tape the shows
for their personal use. In 2008, the band suffered a major setback with the loss of founding member LeRoi Moore from complications from an ATV
accident.
