Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reef Band Band is once again launching a
tour across the nation primarily playing in outdoor venues. Jimmy started the tour early in 2010, beginning in February in
Jacksonville, FL. The 27 city tour is called "Under the Big Top tour" and winds up in Las Vegas on October 23rd. Incredibly,
Jimmy Buffet and his band have toured every year except 2 since 1976. In the past few years, Jimmy has embarked on a standard concert
schedule only performing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The Jimmy Buffett tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster and Live Nation and generally only have 2 price ranges with some venues having a third price level.
Jimmy Buffett is known to command top prices to see him but it doesn't seem to deter his diehard faithful fans known as Parrotheads. You can secure a lawn ticket for these outdoor venues for
as low as $36 depending on the city where the concert is held, The top price for a pavilion seat will cost you approximately $136 and up.
These ticket prices are on average more than popular bands
like
U2 &
Bon Jovi
Jimmy Buffet's career oddly started in Nashville. He moved there in 1969 to embark on a country music career. He signed a contract for 2 albums but
they were not well received. In fact, the demo tapes for his second record were inexplicably lost, only to mysteriously turn up after he reached stardom.
He ended up in Miami looking for work and drove thorough Key West. This drive helped influence his thinking about songs he could write and began the impetus
for Magaritaville.
He wove the cultural Key West beach bum Magaritaville theme into his songwriting and singing by combining country, folk, and pop music.
After recording his second debut album in Nashville, called "A White Sport Coat and Pink Crustacean", he eventually made his way back to Key West
and formed the Coral Reef Band in 1974. His first top 30 hit came soon after and was called "Come Monday".
In 1977, his biggest hit "Margaritaville" was released and went to number 8 on the billboard top 100.
Below is a video of that hit song performed in concert by Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef Band.
A Jimmy Buffett concert is always a fun time. The shows are predictible and the setlists are usually scripted the same from show to show. As many Pattotheads
