Kid Rock, the rock star from Romeo, MI was born Robert Ritchie in 1971. Romeo, MI is a small town 40 miles North of Detroit, MI and is home to many apple orchards. Not many would of predicted the success of this rapper from small town USA. Today, his Kid Rock tickets sell at an amazing pace to his sold out tours. His parents, Bill & Susan Ritchie owned a 6 acre apple orchard in Romeo. At an early age, Bob Ritchie took an interest in music and learned to rap and break-dance. He also was a DJ in high school. Soon after he was dubbed with the name Kid Rock after party goers would comment on that "white kid rocking".

Success did not come early for Kid Rock. His initial album was released in 1990 by Jive Records. A year later, the production company released Kid from his contract. Towards the end of 1991, Continuum Records signed him and he released an album called "The Polyfuze Method". This release sold around 15,000 copies and received some airplay mostly at the local Michigan college scene.

It wasn't until 1997 when Atlantic Records signed Kid Rock for $100,000 that momentum started to build for the rapper. In 1998, the album "Devil without a Cause" was released. Kid played the Warped Tour and other venues and mild interest in the record began to appear and sales were strong enough to achieve gold status gold selling 500,000 units.

It wasn't until 1999 when "Bawitdaba" was released to radio outlets that his career took off. The record quickly went platinum (1,000,000 units sold) and now has sold more than 11 million copies. The major hits on the record were "Bawitdaba", "Cowboy", and "Only God Knows Why".

The interest in Kid Rock’s music in Detroit is extremely high. He routinely sells Kid Rock tickets as fast as Bob Seger tickets and Tom Petty tickets. He usually will have multiple shows in the Metro Detroit area. On 40th birthday bash at Ford Field on January 16th, 2011, the concert was sold out and featured 60,000 fans and special guests and performers including Uncle Cracker, Martina McBride, Anita Baker, Rev Run, and J. Geils Band member Peter Wolf.
